
KUALA LUMPUR, 8 April 2026 – The Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIRO), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur made a strong impact at the Majlis Bersama Naib Canselor (April) 2026, themed “Mengimbau Sejarah Membina Legasi Cemerlang”, as featured in the UTM News article “Amalan HEMAH Jadi Strategi UTM Hadapi Cabaran Ekonomi Global”.
The programme highlighted UTM’s forward-looking strategy in navigating global economic challenges through the HEMAH approach, emphasising efficiency, governance, and resource optimisation. In line with this vision, CAIRO took centre stage by presenting 12 high-impact innovation projects powered by artificial intelligence (AI), IoT, and smart technologies.
Spanning critical sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, energy, biodiversity, and digital systems, these projects showcase CAIRO’s strength in transforming cutting-edge research into real-world solutions with industry relevance and societal impact.

Among the innovations showcased were KenalKayu; Kepersisan Biodiversiti; ClearView; A Web-Based MRI Simulator; AI WhatsApp Assistant for Smart Paddy Farming; Minit; Sistem Pemantauan Pintar Aset Pencawang TNB; Sistem Pemprosesan Ayam Automatik Patuh Syariah; AI & Karya Agung Melayu; Light-Weight Deep Learning for Healthcare Monitoring; Explainable AI for Palm Oil Ripeness Detection; and Smart Event Management System, each driven by dedicated researchers and multidisciplinary teams from UTM.

This showcase not only reinforces CAIRO’s role as a key driver of AI innovation within UTM, but also highlights its growing contribution towards supporting industry transformation and national development agendas.
