PROF. RAMLAN AZIZ is currently the Director of Institute of Bioproduct Development(formerly
known as Chemical Engineering Pilot Plant), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Bahru, Johor a R + D
centre that deals in the development of processes and products for fine specialty chemical and
biochemical industry. He graduated with BSc. and MSc. in Chemical Engineering from University of
Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. Since 1988, he has been deeply involved in R + D,
consultancy and industry training activities. So far, staff from 200 companies have benefited from his
courses. He is currently the Deputy President, Institution of Malaysian Chemical Engineers; Director
of Professional Development, Project Management Institute (Malaysian Chapter) and Member
Advisory Board, National Science Center.
