On April 22, 2024, the Media and Game Innovation Centre of Excellence (MaGICX) had the pleasure of hosting a visit from a delegation of representatives from FLEX Sdn Bhd, marking an essential step in fostering collaboration between industry and academia. The primary goal was to facilitate a robust knowledge transfer and expose the FLEX team to technological innovations developed within MaGICX. This included focusing on the center’s advancements in Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies, rapidly transforming various sectors.

The visit began with a warm welcome and an introductory session outlining MaGICX’s mission and ongoing research initiatives. The FLEX representatives were then guided on a comprehensive tour of the facility by the members of MaGICX. The guests were introduced to various pioneering projects showcasing the practical applications of AR and VR technologies in different fields. The MaGICX team provided in-depth explanations of the research processes and demonstrated how these technologies could be leveraged to meet industry-specific challenges.

One of the highlights of the visit was the discussion on potential project collaborations. MaGICX and FLEX representatives engaged in meaningful conversations about how their expertise could be synergized to drive innovation. They explored various possibilities for integrating MaGICX’s research with FLEX’s industrial applications, aiming to develop new solutions that could benefit academia and industry. These discussions were theoretical and grounded in the potential for future joint ventures that could bridge the gap between academic research and practical industry needs.

The event not only succeeded in transferring knowledge but also laid the groundwork for future partnerships that could push the boundaries of technological innovation. The FLEX representatives left with a deep appreciation for the innovative work being done at MaGICX and a clear vision of how AR and VR could be applied to their industry. The experience underscored the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in advancing technology and creating impactful solutions for the future.
