The Institute of Human Centered Engineering (iHumEn), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) warmly welcomes a delegation from the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC), one of the established research centres at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), on 13 January 2022.
The delegation consisted of 8 AMC members and was led by Prof. Ir. Dr Hambali bin Arep@Ariff, Director of AMC. While iHumEn was represented by Prof. Dr Mohd Shahrizal bin Sunar, Institute Director of iHumEn and Dr Muhammad Noor bin Harun, Director of SITC. The mission of this visit is to observe the management of the research centre in UTM in moving towards the goal of the Higher Institution Centers of Excellence (HiCoE).
The delegation also visited the Motion Analysis Laboratory to explore the use of VICON in analyzing human and object movements, as well as the Hydrotherapy Laboratory to look into the functionality of hydro pools in sports and rehabilitation. Several potential collaborations in the field of research and development (R&D) are also discussed.
Overall, this visit was able to provide exposure and knowledge about the direction of a HiCoE. Also, it will encourage researchers to work towards becoming global leaders in their research niche areas, drive R&D and innovation agenda, particularly in sports technology, and contribute to human capital development.
