The vascular membrane pitch to Pharmaniaga Berhad is one of the efforts shown by the IJN-UTM CEC. It has been successfully conducted virtually by IJNÂUTM CEC through the Google Meet platform on 16th August 2022. This pitching session was presented by Dr. Syafiqah Saidin, Director of IJN-UTM CEC, and attended by the Head of Research and Development (R&D), Dr. Badarul Hisham Abd Rahman, and few representatives from Pharmaniaga Berhad.
This idea on enabling vascular membrane pitch to Pharmaniaga is specifically for IJN-UTM CEC to have a potential industrial collaborator for the future commercialization of ChitoE vascular membrane. The pitching session started with the introduction of IJN-UTM CEC, an overview of ChitoE product, a discussion on the potential prospect of ChitoE, and the announcement of the upcoming DTD workshop with the National Heart Institute (UN).
To date, IJN-UTM CEC is emerging with a new development of several cardiovascular devices and products such as wearable health monitors, mobile health assistants, telecardiology systems, stents, grafting membranes, image-guided intervention, and many more.
It is hoped that the ChitoE vascular membrane is relevant to be commercialized as it offers solutions to the current nonÂbiodegradable commercialized vascular membranes/ patches. IJN-UTM CEC believed that this product can be successfully accepted at a large scale, especially with strong support, continuous and impactful guidance from the university, and industrial collaborator. In addition, this effort could bring more value to both parties and improve capital development to a greater high.
