Jointly physical comprehensive training on 360 virtual lab preparation has been successfully conducted, and it was hosted by the Center for Advancement in Digital and Flexible Learning (UTM CDEX), and the Media and Game Innovation Centre of Excellence (MaGICX) which was held on 24-25 August 2022 at Computer Laboratory, UTM CDEX.
This training course on 360 virtual lab preparation was attended by dedicated team members of UTM CDEX, and a group of staff from the Faculty of Science, UTM. The participants were briefed and exposed to the introduction, and usage of 360 cameras and 3D Vista software. Participants who attended were given explanations of ways and tips for taking pictures using a 360 camera and how to enter the produced images and videos into 3D vista software to generate virtual labs.
The idea of enabling virtual labs is to provide remote access to simulation-based labs in various disciplines of science and engineering. This would help students in learning basic and advanced concepts through remote experimentation, and provide a complete learning system around the virtual labs where the students and researchers can avail themselves of the various tools for learning, including additional web resources, video lectures, animated demonstrations, and self-evaluation.
Virtual labs are interactive, digital simulations of activities that typically take place in physical laboratory settings. Through this course, it is hoped that the participants can prepare themselves to create virtual laboratories for their labs and departments.
