The hands-on workshop on FPV Dronecubator, organized by the Sport Innovation & Technology Centre (SITC), took place on January 5th and 6th, 2024, at the Aksadron Satellite Lab (SporTech) in UTM Johor Bahru. This event was a collaborative initiative involving several key partners, including Futurise Sdn Bhd, the National Academy for Drone Sports Excellence (AKSADRONE), the Malaysia Sports Aviation Federation (MSAF), Aerolab UTM, Innovation and Advanced Technology Solutions (INNATES), and Aeroclub UTM. Led by Ts. Dr. Jaysuman Pusppanathan, a Research Fellow at SITC, the workshop successfully attracted staff and 20 students from UTM, all eager to explore the dynamic field of drone technology.
The primary goal of the workshop was to deliver a comprehensive and immersive experience in drone technology, catering to both novices and those with some prior knowledge. Participants were introduced to the latest advancements in drone sports technology, emphasizing practical applications. The two-day event featured an array of hands-on activities, including sessions on drone racing, where participants learned the complexities of controlling high-speed drones.
In addition to the practical sessions, the workshop also featured expert talks and demonstrations by industry professionals. These sessions provided valuable insights into drone technology’s current trends and prospects, inspiring participants to consider potential career paths in this innovative field. The collaborative environment fostered during the workshop encouraged participants to share ideas and work together on problem-solving tasks, further enhancing their learning experience.
Overall, the workshop was a resounding success and equipped participants with the knowledge and confidence to explore further opportunities in drone technology.
