One of the significant benefits of trekking is that it improves physical health immensely. Spending multiple hours on the trail, climbing around boulders, rock hopping, and ascending hills give the whole body a workout, improving strength, agility, and cardio fitness. Very splendid trekking and potluck event were successfully organized by the Institute of Human Centered Engineering Club (iHumEn). It was held on 28 Jan 2022 in Bukit Tiz, Sri Alam, Johor. The program was successfully implemented by complying with all the SOPs set to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
In the spirit of synergy, about 15 participants consisting of 3 representatives of UTM Adventure Recreation Club (ARC) members and iHumEn staff, including students and family members, have participated in this event. Before the start of the climbing activity, fellow participants were briefed by the representatives of ARC club members on the safety aspects and preparations that need to be done to avoid any accidents or unwanted events.
An awareness of the importance of maintaining health and exercise among iHumEn members could be developed through this initiative. Also, it could be a great training platform for iHumEn members to remain resilient towards challenges and adaptable to every circumstance at the workplace.
In addition, these outdoor activities are a cornerstone in forming the identity of UTM staff to be more proactive and significant in their respective leadership roles. As healthy living is everyone’s concern, through this program, it is believed, it could enable to maintain and improve mental health, strengthen the bonds between iHumEn and recreational staff with positives vibes, effective networking, engaged, resulting in a productive team with a lasting impact on their motivation and work culture.
