Solidify Decade Collaboration with Momentous Signing Ceremony
The IJN-UTM Research Convention 2023 was held on 21st June 2023, encompassing four vital professional activities, which are the Research Exhibition, a CEO Talk featuring esteemed speakers, the signing of memorandums, and a steering committee meeting involving top management from both UTM and IJN.
Since its inception in 2013, the partnership between UTM and IJN has flourished, with our esteemed IJN-UTM Cardiovascular Engineering Centre (IJN-UTM CEC) serving as the pivotal link between these two prominent entities, led by Dr Syafiqah Saidin, Director IJN-UTM CEC for continuous research collaboration in the healthcare domain, mainly focusing on cardiovascular engineering and science.
The Research Exhibition showcased the impressive outcomes of this collaborative effort, with 12 research booths featuring innovative projects ranging from Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 to 7. Nine of these inventive endeavours are ongoing research collaborations between dedicated UTM staff and skilled IJN clinicians. This decade-long journey has been a testament to the power of collaboration and the relentless pursuit of excellence in advancing healthcare solutions.
The CEO Talk was delivered by the distinguished presence of Datuk Dr. Aizai Azan Abdul Rahim, the CEO of IJN and also an Adjunct Professor at UTM. His captivating presentation on ‘Heart Matters: Advancing Cardiac Care through Precision Medicine’ enlightened the audience about cutting-edge cardiovascular research technologies and shed light on the future avenues that UTM staff should explore for further advancements in cardiovascular and healthcare domains.
Following the insightful talk, the Memorandum Signing Ceremony witnessed the signing of crucial agreements, with both the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) being formalized by Datuk Dr. Aizai Azan, the CEO of IJN, and Prof. Datuk Ts. Ir. Dr. Ahamd Fauzi Ismail, Vice-Chancellor of UTM, in the presence of esteemed witnesses, including Prof. Dr. Rosli Md. Illias, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Dr. Hasri Samion, Chief Clinical Officer of IJN, and Dato’ Dr. Suhaini Kadiman, Director of Clinical Research IJN. The MoU marks a five-year collaboration between UTM and IJN, dedicated to cardiovascular engineering and science research activities.
Additionally, the MoA was signed for the IJN Integrated Research Management System (i-RMS) project, with a significant investment of RM171,990. Overall, these momentous events underscore the commitment of both UTM and IJN to advancing cardiovascular care and fostering research excellence in the pursuit of better healthcare outcomes.
