The official meeting session with the Consulate General of Republic Indonesia was held on 26 May 2021 virtually through video conferencing, Cisco Webex, and hosted by the Medical Devices and Technology Centre (MEDiTEC). The meeting was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ardiyansyah Syahrom, the Director of MEDiTEC, and attended by fellow students of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) from Indonesia.
Due to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, MEDiTEC took effective measures and was concerned about the well-being of the students as the total lockdown was implemented in Malaysia. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ardiyansyah Syahrom through MEDiTEC was a representative for the Consulate General of Indonesia in connection with the students from Indonesia who are currently residing at the UTM campus.
This initiative aims to ensure the students are always in good condition despite the UTM community having to undergo the Enhanced Movement Controlled Order (EMCO) set by the National Council Security (MKN) government. It was due to incline numbers of COVID-19 cases observed and recorded on the UTM campus and the nearby community. In addition, the meeting also addressed the assistance needed, including food, basic needs, mental health support that might help and be helpful to the students, especially during the quarantine period.
