Sports Innovation Technology Centre (SITC) is an internationally renowned research centre for research and consultancy at the Institute of Human Centered Engineering (iHumEn), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), with over four years of cumulative experience. This centre offers interdisciplinary pursuits in this emerging field where engineering techniques and technologies from various disciplines are used to address needs in the sports industries.
Sports are a crucial part of a people’s growth and development, and they help develop mental health and physical fitness of the body and improve the quality of life. In realizing that the sports industry remains relevant, SITC and UTM Sports Combat Club successfully organized the sports event with 30 participants, consisting of students and athletes specializing in judo, martial arts, and boxing. The program was held at Kolej Tun Dr Ismail (KTDI) hall and was visited by a reporter from RTM Sports News for an interview related to the event and the sports facilities provided.
It is significant and relevant to introduce the visibility of UTM throughout Malaysia. Also, to promote and advertise UTM’s sports facilities to attract and interest the students and athletes, especially those involved in combat sports, to further their studies at UTM. SITC specializes in developing new knowledge that improves understanding of the complex sporting environment.
SITC comes from various specializations, including Sports Biomechanics, Virtual Reality Training, Tactical Applied Computing & Analytics, Rehabilitation, Sport Psychology, Talent Identification and Development, Exercise Science & Physical Activity, and e-Sports, Health & Wellness.
