A conducive and safe working environment is vital for encouraging people to work effectively and remain connected despite the unforeseen condition. However, a conducive working environment doesn’t occur in one day, it needs to be valued and nurtured by every team member. Therefore, a line-up of dedicated staff and a group of students from the IJN-UTM Cardiovascular Engineering Centre (IJN-UTM CEC), take up the opportunity to improve the hygienic, cleanliness and safety of the working space and laboratory by conducting gotong-Âroyong at Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) laboratory.
A spring cleaning at the MRI laboratory was successfully been conducted purposely to ensure and maintain an orderly safe laboratory setting as this impact not only the laboratory safety personnel but the potential safety of others who are working and visiting the lab. In addition, the idea of gotong -royong is to minimize and sharing of burdens among the member of working place.
Through gotong-royong it helps to foster a voluntary attitude, togetherness, and kinship among staff, students, and lab users, also it is the potential to establish and enhance good and harmonious social relations between team members, while various laboratory issues can be solved effortlessly and inexpensively.
Despite any experimental works, screening, monitoring, or tests performed in the laboratory, it shall be well equipped, safe to be used, organized, and comply with the standard of procedure of lab operation and usage. Efficiency in the laboratory could save time, energy, and capital. Therefore, lab organization is a must and relevant to keep it efficient.
Regular cleaning, asset management, and inspection at the working place and laboratory are a part of IJN-UTM CEC responsibilities. A gotong-royong at the MRI laboratory is one of the efforts shown by the IJN-UTM CEC in supporting and nurturing a conducive, positive, vibrant, and healthy working, and learning environment.
