Course Outline
In this course the participant will be introduced to partial discharge measurement techniques in various high voltage equipment (power cable, transformer and switchgears, and rotating machines), types of partial discharge and classification methods in partial discharge measurement, as well as in-depth discussion on IEC 60270:2015 horizontal standard of partial discharge. Further, various method of data analysis and options for further investigation to locate and pinpoint partial discharge source will also be covered.

Dr. Mohd Hafizi Ahmad received his B. Eng and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) , Malaysia in 2009 and 2013, respectively. Formerly , he was a visiting researcher in the University of Leicester, UK and Tanjungpura University, Indonesia within 2010 to 2012. He worked as a tutor in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UTM from 2009 to 2013. Currently, he is a senior lecturer at the Institute of High Voltage & High Current (IVAT), School of Electrical Engineering, UTM. His research interests covers different types of high voltage insulations, nanodieelctrics, insulation performance and breakdown of dielectric materials.
