Introduction to Discharges, Dielectrics, and Diagnostics

Discharges, Dielectrics, and Diagnostics Division (3Ds) has been formed by the merger of the previous Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Division and High Voltage Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics Division. The new division focuses on the following research areas:


discharge, detection, and monitoring


discharge analysis on polymeric insulating materials


monitoring of high voltage equipment


and fault analysis






and ozone generation applications

Low voltage

and telecommunication surge protective devices
