On 17 September 2024, a meeting was held at the Research Center Building of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). The attendees included representatives from MEDiTEC, the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Department of Medical Technology, and the Directorate of Research and Community Service. The meeting concluded with several key agreements: research collaboration, sharing of facilities, matching grants, joint publications, further studies, joint supervision, and the development of professional courses.
The planned research collaboration encompasses joint research projects, sharing facilities, applying for matching grants, co-authoring research papers, encouraging further studies, joint supervision of research students, and developing professional courses based on collaborative research outcomes. Specific research topics being considered include biomedical device innovation, medical imaging and diagnostics, biomaterials and tissue engineering, health informatics, rehabilitation engineering, telemedicine and remote monitoring, and public health and epidemiology.
The prioritization of these research topics will be based on their potential impact on healthcare, feasibility and available resources, collaborative strengths, alignment with funding opportunities, urgency and relevance, and innovation potential. To ensure effective interdisciplinary collaboration, the involved parties will implement strategies such as regular meetings and workshops, integrated research teams, shared resources, collaborative platforms, joint training programs, clear communication channels, and strong leadership support. By considering these factors and strategies, the collaboration aims to focus on research that can make the most significant and immediate impact while leveraging the strengths and resources of all involved parties.
