On 18 September 2024, a significant meeting took place at the Institute of Tropical Diseases, UNAIR. The discussions led to a promising conclusion, highlighting the establishment of a research collaboration, the sharing of facilities, the initiation of a matching grant, and plans for joint publications. This collaboration involves MEDITEC at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and the Institute of Tropical Diseases at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).
The primary focus of this collaboration will be on biomaterials and diagnostic kits, aiming to advance research and development in these critical areas. Specifically, the research will focus on developing and improving biomaterials that can interact with biological systems for medical purposes, such as implants, prosthetics, and tissue engineering. Additionally, the collaboration will work on creating advanced diagnostic tools to detect diseases more accurately and efficiently, which is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment, with the focus in tropical and infectious diseases. This partnership aims to leverage the strengths of both institutions to contribute to better healthcare solutions.
