UTM, Johor Bahru –The Registered Energy Manager (REM) Type 2 Training, Batch 1 is currently being conducted from 29 June to 3 July 2026 by Process Systems Engineering Centre (PROSPECT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), as a Registered Training Institution recognised by Suruhanjaya Tenaga. This training marks another important step in supporting the implementation of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) 2024, particularly in building the competency of energy professionals who manage high-energy-consuming facilities. Throughout the programme, participants are exposed to key areas including EECA 2024 requirements, the roles and responsibilities of Registered Energy Managers (REM), energy management systems (EnMS), energy audit practices, energy performance monitoring, and preparation of compliance reports.

In addition to the technical modules, the programme also includes dedicated working session modules and close discussion sessions to ensure participants are able to understand, apply, and practise the knowledge gained throughout the training. These interactive sessions provide opportunities for participants to discuss real operational issues, strengthen their understanding of compliance requirements, and relate the training content to practical energy management implementation at their respective organisations.

As the demand for effective energy management continues to grow, REM Type 2 plays a vital role in helping organisations improve energy performance, strengthen compliance, and contribute towards Malaysia’s energy efficiency and sustainability agenda.

For those who are interested to join the upcoming REM Type 2 Training, PROSPECT UTM will be organising the next session on 27–31 July 2026 at USM Engineering Campus, Nibong Tebal, Penang and 21–25 September 2026 at UTM JB, Johor. This is a valuable opportunity for energy professionals, engineers, facility managers, sustainability officers, and compliance personnel to enhance their competency in energy management and EECA 2024 implementation.
