The Process Systems Engineering Centre (PROSPECT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), successfully conducted two cohorts of the Registered Energy Manager (REM) Type 2 training programme in 2026, bringing together professionals seeking to strengthen their competency in energy management and support effective energy efficiency practices within their organisations.

The two training cohorts, conducted from 29 June–3 July 2026, UTM JB and 27–31 July 2026, USM Nibong Tebal, received highly positive feedback from participants. The participant evaluation results demonstrate strong satisfaction with the quality of training delivery, trainer expertise, course content and overall programme management.

Strong Participant Satisfaction

The first cohort, held from 29 June–3 July 2026, recorded an overall satisfaction score of 5.45 out of 6.00, with 88.2% of ratings achieving 5 or above.

The second cohort, conducted from 27–31 July 2026, achieved an even stronger overall satisfaction score of 5.79 out of 6.00, with 99.0% of ratings achieving 5 or above.

The improvement between the two cohorts highlights the effectiveness of continuous programme refinement and PROSPECT–UTM’s commitment to delivering high-quality professional training.

Expertise That Makes a Difference

One of the strongest aspects of both programmes was the quality of the trainers. Participants consistently recognised the trainers’ strong subject-matter knowledge, clear delivery, professionalism and ability to facilitate learning.

The positive feedback reinforces the importance of combining technical expertise with practical and engaging delivery methods when developing energy management professionals.

Supporting Professional Development

Participants identified several key reasons for attending the REM Type 2 programme, particularly:

  • Learning from qualified and experienced trainers

These responses demonstrate the growing importance of professional energy management competency in supporting organisations’ energy efficiency, compliance and sustainability objectives.

Continuous Improvement Through Participant Feedback

PROSPECT–UTM also values participant feedback as an important mechanism for improving future training delivery.

Suggestions received included extending the course duration to provide additional time for technical content, improving course notes, incorporating more practical examples and videos, and increasing the use of interactive learning materials.

Participants also expressed interest in having more relevant UTM professional training opportunities available in other regions.

These recommendations will support PROSPECT–UTM in continuously enhancing the REM Type 2 programme and ensuring that future cohorts remain relevant, practical and responsive to industry needs.
