JOHOR BAHRU – Global Agro Innovation (GAI) (HK) Ltd, an agricultural biotech product distributor based in Hong Kong has extended its core in sustainable agriculture innovation and agro green farming through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on 6 September 2020.

The MoA was signed by Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail, who is performing the function of Vice-Chancellor of UTM, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Global Agro Innovation (HK) Ltd, Dr. Ting Seng Ho.

The RM40, 000.00 worth of collaboration was initiated with an intention to produce biomass production of isolated rhizosphere microbes in a semi-industrial scale for one year. This project will be conducted by a group of researchers led by Prof. Dr. Hesham Ali El-Enshasy from Institute of Bio-product Development (IBD).

After the signing ceremony, Prof. Datuk Ahmad Fauzi said that this collaboration was envisioned to develop a sustainable and novel microbial-based bio-fertilizer for human wellness.

“Today, UTM through this MoA has agreed to collaborate with GAI to initiate a project with the value of RM10, 000.00 for the development of probiotic-based products in animal feed application.

“We also have finalised the technology transfer which was officially licensed to GAI with RM10, 000 of licensing fee. This technology involved the formulation of trace elements based on plant nutrients supplemented with probiotics and plant growth hormones which have been developed by the same group,” said Prof. Datuk Ahmad Fauzi.

UTM also received the endowment cheque worth RM5, 000.00 from Global Agro Innovation (HK) Ltd.

Also attending the ceremonies were the Chairman of Research Alliance (Health & Wellness), Prof. Dr. Rosli Md Illias, Director of Global Agro Innovation (HK) Ltd, Mr. Maddiah Abd Razak, and representatives from IBD UTM.

The GAI nature of business is to engage in sourcing, licensing, branding, manufacturing, formulating, and distributing a wide range of innovative and agricultural biotech products that are developed by the company.

This Hong Kong-based agricultural biotech distribution company also offers extension services, systems for clean and safe food production, and processing services.
