KUALA LUMPUR, 21 JULY 2018 – Advanced Membrane Technology Research Centre (AMTEC) has organized a half-day workshop on “Membrane Technology: Research – Development – Commercialization).
This workshop was designed as a platform for AMTEC’s researchers to convey and disseminate our knowledge and experience as one of prominent membrane research centres in Malaysia. We are also obligated to conduct such event as one of requirement as being the national Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICoE).
The workshop featured four of our researchers. The topics discussed encompassed a broad spectrum of membrane technology, from its principles, applications, and commercialization outlook. Prof. Datuk Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail delivered a talk on the “Overview of Membrane Technology”. Dr. Goh Pei Sean presented the research on “Thin Film Nanocomposite Membranes”, Dr. Mohd Zamri Yusop talked on his experience regarding the “Development of Advanced Graphene-based Membranes”, and Mr. Ng Be Cheer ended the sharing sessions by summarizing his role in “Membrane System Design and Commercialization”.
A total of 80 participants had attended the workshop which comprised of postgraduates (40%), academicians (25%), researchers and technical professionals (35%) from public and private organizations such as Petronas Research Sdn. Bhd., Aliran Ihsan Resources Bhd., Lestari Teknologi Hijau Sdn. Bhd., Nuclear Malaysia, etc. Despite of very limited time, we were able to engage and widen our networking with the participants of diverse background.
Considering the positive feedbacks from the participants, we are looking forward conduct similar events in the future as a way of paying our dues to the government, peers, industries as well as the communities. We would like to acknowledge the Ministry of Higher Education for the HICoE funding for making the event possible. We would also like to thank all the participants for attending our event.
We hope that you can join us in our next event – National Congress on Membrane Technology (NATCOM 2018), in Pulai Spring Resort, Johor Bahru from 30th – 31st October 2018. We also conduct a one-day workshop in AMTEC on the October 29th. For more details, visit: http://www.utm.my/natcom2018/.
