CIMAH COURSE OVERVIEW

Course Introduction

The study highlights the significant role of process safety in major accidents within the Chemical Process Industry (CPI), with no decline in accident rates. This leads to fatalities, severe property damage, and environmental pollution. In Malaysia, regulations like the Occupational Safety and Health (Control of Industrial Major Accident Hazards) Regulation 1996 govern hazard management. Current research at UTM reveals a lack of understanding among chemical plant personnel regarding Safety Reports, leading to heavy reliance on CIMAH Competent Persons. This results in inadequate management of process hazards. Thus, this course aims to enhance knowledge of major hazards, including inherent risks, risk calculation, and utilizing CIMAH reports for emergency preparedness.

Course Objective

  1. To familiarise participants with the requirement of the CIMAH regulations 1996
  2. To enable participants to write or manage the preparation of the CIMAH report
  3. To be able to conduct site assessment on the compliance to the CIMAH regulations
  4. To enable participants to conduct consequence modelling on the hazards due to hazardous substances available in the plant.

%

of CIMAH REPORT participant whom completed the Course in 2022 were satisfied with the overall quality of their course.
