The Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA) is a binational organization established from 1979 by Malaysia and Thailand to oversee the exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (MTJDA), located in the Gulf of Thailand.

Established to manage this resource-rich area cooperatively, MTJA ensures that operations are conducted efficiently and safely, with the benefits shared between both countries. It handles regulatory oversight, operational management, and compliance with environmental and safety standards, facilitating equitable resource exploitation and fostering bilateral cooperation.

The MTJA lab at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is a specialized facility dedicated to provide advanced testing and analysis capabilities for drilling fluids, core samples, and environmental monitoring in supporting research, development, and educational activities related to hydrocarbon exploration and production.

DIGITAL STIRRER (Silverson Mixer Model L5M-A)

The Silverson L5M-A is ideal for laboratory tasks, research and development, quality analysis, and small-scale production in multiple industries.

This machine can mix in-line with flow rates of up to 20 liters/minute, ranging from 1ml to 12 liters. They provide reliable results for transitioning to full-scale production and offer a precise way to predict the performance of larger Silverson machines in real working conditions.

The L5M-A lab mixer has a user-friendly touch screen, digital tachometer, programmable timer, and amperage display, making it essential for precise process validation and consistent results.

 

 

FANN ELECTRICAL STABILITY TESTER MODEL 23E

Fann Electrical Stability Tester Model 23E is a portable and user-friendly device designed to measure the electrical stability of oil-based drilling fluids, ensuring compliance with industry standards and providing reliable data for laboratory use.

It provides a wide measurement range for electrical stability, typically from 0 to 2000 volts which is essential for evaluating the fluids performance and stability.

It also features a digital display for easy reading of the electrical stability (ES) value which can enhances user convenience by providing clear and accurate readings, facilitating efficient monitoring during testing.

This equipment also utilizes with  a pair of electrodes to measure the electrical stability of the fluid ensuring reliable assessment of its performance and integrity during operations.

FANN ROLLER OVEN MODEL 705ET

The Fann Roller Oven Model 705ET is a specialized equipment used in laboratory settings for testing the stability and performance of drilling fluids under controlled conditions.

The temperature range covers up to 500°F (260°C), which is essential for simulating the high-temperature conditions encountered in downhole environments.

The oven includes a rolling mechanism that rotates sample containers during the heating process, ensuring uniform exposure of the samples to heat.

Equipped with digital controls, the Fann Roller Oven Model 705ET allows for easy setting and monitoring of temperature and time parameters. The digital display provides clear readouts, making it straightforward to track the progress of tests and ensure that the desired conditions are maintained.

The Model 705ET can accommodate multiple sample containers, allowing for simultaneous testing of several samples. This capacity is particularly useful in high-throughput laboratory environments where multiple formulations need to be tested concurrently.

In the MTJA lab, the Fann Roller Oven Model 705ET is used to test the thermal stability of drilling fluids and other chemical formulations, providing critical data on how these materials behave under high-temperature conditions.

FANN TRU-WATE PRESSURIZED FLUID DENSITY BALANCE MODEL 141

The Fann Tru-Wate Pressurized Fluid Density Balance Model 141 is a robust and portable device engineered to accurately measure the density of drilling fluids under pressurized conditions, providing reliable data for laboratory applications in compliance with industry standards.

Capable of measuring a wide range of fluid densities, typically from 6 to 24 pounds per gallon (ppg).This can accurately assessing various drilling fluid densities, which is crucial for optimizing fluid performance.

Equipped with a straightforward and easy-to-read scale for fluid density readings. This can simplifies the process of obtaining fluid density measurements, ensuring quick and accurate readings during testing.

FANN VISCOMETER 35SA & FANN THERMO-CUP

The Fann Viscometer 35SA is designed to measure the viscosity of drilling fluids and other similar substances.

The Fann Viscometer 35SA operates at multiple speeds, typically ranging from 3 to 600 RPM (Revolutions Per Minute), allowing it to measure viscosity at different shear rates.

The Fann Thermo Cup is a specialized accessory designed to be used with Fann Viscometer 35SA, to measure the rheological properties of drilling fluids at elevated temperatures.

The Fann Thermo Cup is designed to heat drilling fluid samples to a controlled temperature, allowing for the assessment of their viscosity under various conditions at different temperatures

 

HPHT (High-Pressure & High-Temperature) FILTER PRESS

An HPHT filter press evaluates the filtration properties of drilling fluids under simulated high-pressure and high-temperature conditions encountered in downhole environments.

500 ml HPHT Filter Press (Catalog No: 101565563) units can be pressurized to 1800 psig on the cell and 750 psig on the back pressure receiver.

Maximum operating temperature is 500°F. For operation above 400°F, the filter paper should be backed with a glass fiber filter, or a stainless-steel filter.

Fann HPHT Filter Presses are furnished with the patented CellTellTM Positive Pressure Indicator.

The CellTellTM Positive Pressure Indicator provides an instant indication of the pressure status of any HPHT cell.

 

STIRRER (Hamilton Beach Mixer)

The Hamilton Beach mixer is designed to efficiently blend, mix, and emulsify various drilling fluids and chemical formulations used in the laboratory. It is crucial for preparing consistent samples for testing, ensuring that the physical and chemical properties of the fluids are uniform throughout the mixture.

The Hamilton Beach mixer also comes with multiple speed settings, allowing users to adjust the mixing intensity according to the specific requirements of different fluid formulations. This flexibility is essential for achieving the desired consistency and properties of the fluid.

The mixer is compatible with a range of mixing attachments, such as paddle, whisk, or beater attachments, enabling it to handle different types of materials and mixing processes.
