Experience the cutting-edge technology and expertise that power our comprehensive engine testing and optimization services.
The Lycoming O-320 is a prominent four-cylinder, horizontally opposed, air-cooled aircraft engine, widely used in general aviation. With a displacement of 320 cubic inches (5.24 liters) and producing between 150 to 160 horsepower, this engine is common in light aircraft such as the Cessna 172 and Piper Cherokee.
In the DYNO Test Lab at UTM, this engine is connected to a DYNOmite dynamometer, a device that measures the power output, torque, and other performance parameters of the engine under various operating conditions. This setup allows for comprehensive analysis and experimentation, providing valuable hands-on experience in understanding engine mechanics, thermodynamics, and the effects of different variables on engine performance.
Additionally, the lab provides a platform for research and development, where new technologies, fuel types, and modifications can be tested to enhance engine performance and efficiency. This setup also serves diagnostic purposes, enabling the analysis of engine performance and the testing of new components or materials.
Our Dyno Lab is equipped with a variety of sophisticated tools designed to measure and analyze engine performance with unparalleled accuracy. Key equipment includes:
Our high-precision dynamometer is the cornerstone of our testing capabilities, allowing us to simulate real-world conditions and gather critical performance data.
